Messi Is Injured From PSG’s Champions League Clash With Leipzig

LEIPZIG, Argentina big star Lionel Messi will miss tomorrow’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig due to injury, Paris Saint Germain announced today.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner, 34, suffered from left hamstring problems and a sore throat.

Messi won PSG Ligue 1 2-1 win over Lille at half-time last Friday but coach Mauricio Pochettino said he expected him to be in good shape for Leipzig.

However, he missed training yesterday and today the club confirmed that he will finally be in good shape.
A PSG statement said the four-time Champions League winner “suffered hamstring pain in his left thigh and knee pain”.

Messi could also doubt the Ligue 1 clash between PSG and Bordeaux Ringer on Saturday.

He will then play two World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil with his national team.

Tomorrow is the third game Messi has missed this season due to injury after missing two Ligue 1 games at the end of September.

Messi has quietly started his magic with the French giants since arriving from Barcelona in August.

However, he made one of his best appearances in a 3-2 win against Leipzig four weeks ago in Paris, when he scored the winner from the penalty spot with a penalty kick.

He said after almost two decades at Barcelona, one of the main reasons he joined PSG was to win a fifth Champions League trophy.

PSG will also lose influential midfielder Marco Verratti, who suffered a hip injury but will welcome French world champion Kylian Mbappe into the squad after missing the match against Lille.

PSG is top of the Champions League group with seven points after three games.

The Manchester City finalists who lost last season are one point behind while Leipzig is still three defeats behind.
